Friends of the Poor's Camp Connections

Happy summer! Once again, Friends of the Poor and Keystone College are bringing young students, age 4-14, together in Camp Connections. This year, it is VIRTUAL Camp Connections. More than 50 students are learning remotely via Google Classroom. Students were welcomed with a kickoff parade featuring the Keystone College mascot, the Orange Giant.

Our bi-weekly COVID-19, emergency drive through food giveaways continue with distributions on August 12 at Parker Hill Church and August 26, at Scranton High School. In the off weeks, food is distributed to families in the Lackawanna County Family Housing Developments. To date, our distributions have provided food to more than 60,000 individuals.

At the end of July, our Jesuit Volunteer, Robbie Starkenburg, completed his year of service with Friends of the Poor. Robbie worked alongside Sister Ann Walsh, at the Jackson Terrace Pantry. We thank Robbie for his commitment to the mission of Friends of the Poor and wish him abundant blessings as he seeks new opportunities.
