Sister Mary Antonia Heffernan, IHM

Sister Mary Antonia Heffernan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, February 4, 1955.
She was born on January 17, 1879 in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Connole Heffernan. She entered the IHM Congregation on on August 15, 1898, received the religious habit on July 15, 1899, and made profession of her vows on July 27, 1901.
Sister Mary Antonia enjoyed her years of teaching children in our IHM mission schools, including at St. Alphonsus School in New York, NY.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas F., and George P., and a sister, Catherine Pringle.
She is survived by three brothers, Major Leo G. of Luzerne County, PA, John V. of Luzerne County, PA, and Dr. Andrew J. of Wilkes-Barre, PA, three sisters, Anna Murphy and Nora C., both of of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and Josephine R. Wagner, Oakland, CA, nieces and nephews.
Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
