April is Earth Month, although every day is Earth Day at the IHM Center!

April is Earth Month, although every day is Earth Day at the IHM Center!

The annual seed tending occurred in early April where sisters at OLP and the IHM Center as well as the IHM Family who minister with us, are invited to tend seed cups, filled with soil and seed for various native annual flowers. The sisters tend the seeds until the seedlings emerge and are then planted in the Friendship Garden at the IHM Center and in the courtyards at OLP.

On April 21st, professional Birder, David Trently, joined us once again to host a bird walk on the Land Restoration. After a brief introduction, participants gently walked the trail to hear, see, and delight in 23 species of birds that were identified that evening.

April 22 (Earth Day) was celebrated by the planting of two Cherry trees (one in the courtyard of OLP and one in the Friendship garden at the IHM Center).

Pictured are four sisters holding symbols of Earth, Air, Fire, Water which were used during the service.

The sisters at OLP had a beautiful prayer during the day. A Prayer Service was held in the Friendship Garden at the IHM Center. These activities are part of the Laudato Si Action Platform Plan, concentrating on the goals of Ecological Education and Ecological Spirituality.
