Sicuani Celebrates

Anniversaries are BIG celebrations here in the Andes. On the anniversary of the city of Sicuani, Sister Norma and 19 other members of the barrio danced in the day long parade. Norma had taught the group the native dance they presented. School groups, communities in the region and organizations all sent dancers. The event began at 10:00 a.m. and continued until 5:00 p.m.! Norma's group waited all day and danced at 4:45 p.m.

Confirmation celebration was just that! The pastor of San Felipe parish, Father Lucio Gonzalez is a great celebrant and animated the confirmandi who consisted of 6 adults who attended classes in the evening with Sister Eileen as they plan to get married but need the Sacrament to do so in the church. Norma had prepared the youth all year.

Sister Ancilla continues her ministry in her library program to the children in the neighborhood. The week is for homework, reading, their favorite coloring, and play with the various games Ancilla brings back each year from the U.S. On Fridays she has movies or an art project.
